What "pure linen" means here. Linen is fibre from the flax plant, Linum usitatissimum, and nothing else. A fabric sold as "cotton linen" or "linen blend" is part flax and part something cheaper — usually cotton — and in both EU and US labelling law the fibre named first is the larger share, so "cotton linen" means more cotton than flax. "Linen-look" and "linen-texture" fabrics often contain no flax at all.
