Our new black and red checkered organic cotton shift dress, a part of the Box of Memories collection is a great addition to your wardrobe. The Kotpad dress has an airy overlap V neck and welt pockets making it modernist, while remaining attached to Indian roots just like the city of Kolkata.
The fabric obtained from the looms of the tribal Mirgan community is very much Indian. It has acquired the Geographical Indication(GI) tag for the natural dyeing process. The fabric is hand spun and hand woven on a pit loom. The dyeing is primarily done by the women folk and it involves using aal powder (made from the bark of Indian madder tree), castor oil, cow dung and ash powder. The entire dyeing process takes 15 days.
The Box of Memories collection in many ways is an eclectic mix of Indian and western styles, just like the colonial buildings that adorn Kolkata. The colonial buildings bring out the essence and charm of Kolkata. The architecture of Kolkata is spruced with influences from the western culture and these stalwart buildings mark the bustling trade hub that Kolkata was, which brought many Europeans to the city.

The colours are mixed using natural elements and might rub off. You can get it dry cleaned before use to remove any surface dyes.

EXCHANGES
Free size exchange within 7 days of delivery — the piece should be unused, with all tags and the invoice. Custom-sized pieces can’t be exchanged, but we’re happy to help with alterations.

Rates are calculated by weight. Dispatch within 7 working days; delivery in 1–3 weeks from dispatch. Customs charges, if any, are borne by the customer. International orders aren’t eligible for returns or exchanges.

HOW TO MEASURE:
SHOULDERS: Stand with your shoulders relaxed. Measure across the back of your body.
BUST: Measure under the arms at the fullest part around the bust.
WAIST: Measure around the natural waistline, without holding your breath.
HIP: Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Explaining the size chart
The sizes mentioned in the charts are ready-to-wear garment sizes.
The fitting may, however, vary based on the style of the outfit.
In case of any doubts regarding your size, you can email us your exact ready-to-wear garment measures–take an inch tape and measure any dress that fits you well, across the bust, and from armhole to armhole. In this way, you can send us Shoulder, Bust, Waist, Hips, Bicep, Arm Hole, Sleeve, and Dress Length measurements.
You could also send us your body measurements–measurements taken very close to the body with no gap. Over and above these measurements, we will add (depending upon the style) between 2 to 3 inches loosening to get the right garment size.
You can also select your size based on the above. If your body bust measure is 34 inches, your ready-to-wear dress size will ideally be a size 38 (add between 3-4 inches to the body measurements). If you have a very petite structure, adding just two inches would also do.
